It just can't be...

There is NO way that the summer is over. I have enjoyed spending it with our children. I can't think of anything else I would rather be doing with my time. They are so precious. Chris and I enjoy every day with them.

I also cannot believe that I am sending my sweet son to kindergarten. I remember my first day of kindergarten. I did not want to go. I know his first day will not bring tears, fear or reservation...at least not by him. Me on the hand may feel all of those emotions. Just kidding. I am so excited that he is going to be challenged each day. This kid is ready. For the last nie years I have traveled to school alone. In my tenth year, I get to share "the ride" with him. I am so proud of him and feel blessed to watch him grow over the next 5 years at "our" school.

Lauren will be moving to her new classroom the same day Carson begins his first day of school. I can already see our little girl following in her brother's footsteps. She loves to be read to and has started "reading" books to me. She often says, "Let me do it". She is an absolute joy. Caring, fearless, bold...I love watching her dance and sing. Hard to believe when Carson was her age we were preparing to meet her!

Incredibly blessed....Immeasurably loved! What more could I ask for?

Preparing for the 4th...

We decided to have a little fun last night outdoors. My sweet husband bought the items to roast hot dogs, marshmallows, and s'mores. Chris set up the tent so he and Carson could camp in the backyard. Every son's dream! We made a fire on our back patio. The kids just loved it. Lauren did not like the s'mores, but ate about 10 marshmallows. Carson enjoyed roasting them. We let him be a real camper and put sticks on the fire. We sat around our "campfire" and enjoyed being together. I FINALLY convinced Chris that we need a real fire pit! That will be our fall project.

I have to say a BIG thank you to Chris. He unloaded 4 loads of mulch yesterday, put in another new bed in our front yard and still managed to have enough energy to entertain all of us.

Can't wait to see what today brings...
HAPPY 4th of JULY!!!
The kids in thier pj's ready to camp

Our kids love dressing up in costumes. It just so happens that Lauren figured out that she could now wear Carson's old NASA costume. This has been a favorite even though it is way too short for Carson. He still wears it. Gigi brought it back from Texas for him while she was at MD Anderson. These pics were too cute to pass up! Enjoy them. Sweet little Lauren

Our backyard visitor

Most of you may know about our visitors in our backyard. We have a regular wild kingdom out there. We have raised several rabbit families over the years. We also have blue birds that continue to come back year after year to our box to lay eggs. Last weekend we found a huge toad while Chris was mowing. We have also had some baby chipmunks...

Well, today this is what we found. I could not believe it! Carson was so excited and asked if "this" was now his home. I suppose it is. The funny thing is, we have neighbors on all sides of us in a good size neighborhood. We wanted to create an environment that would be natural and inviting to animals...guess we have that covered! Just as long as no snakes decide to visit I am pretty good with anything else.

Little Cinderella

Kids grow up way to fast. I enjoy spending all the time I can with our sassy, sweet, smart, & beautiful little one. She is amazing. I cherish each day I have with my children because I know that I will wake up one day and wonder where the time went....My little Cinderella.

NOT so fun start...

So, we had our 1st ER accident visit today. ..

I can't believe that we made it over 5 years!!! We took the kids to Century Park this morning. We had been there 15 minutes when Carson decided to cross the monkey bars (which are now outlawed in our family). He had crossed 5 of the "swinging" kind. On one of the last ones he slipped and fell about 5 feet onto his tummy. I picked him up. I just knew he would be missing a tooth or have a bloody nose. That I could deal with. He was holding his tummy and starting to cry. THEN, he went absolutly limp, eyes rolled back in his head & looked like he was having a seizure. No jerking, just very tense. YIKES!!! I laid him on the ground sent Chris to find the phone to call 911. Carson was alert by this point and a little freaked out b/c I would not let him get up. A very nice lady played with Lauren while we took care of Carson. The EMT's arrived very quickly. Although it would have been much faster if we had a "physical address". Apparently "Centry Park" was not as helpful. I think they need a humongous billboard with the address just in case of emergencies like this, so freaked out parents don't have to try and figure out where they are! Needless to say the 2 correct street names popped into my head and they "found" it in the computer. Thank you Jesus for that moment of guidance. :) He was assessed by paramedics who said he was ok enough for us to take him to the ER. Went to the ER, had a CT, etc. just to make sure his head was OK. Dr was unsure if he just passed out from getting the breath knocked out of him or if he had a seizure. CT was all clear and he doesn't even have a single scratch on him! Thank you again Lord for catching our baby when he fell. We knew that he was doing great when the Dr asked him his name and he spelled first/last for him & then proceeded to read his shirt to him! I am so thankful to the Dr who treated him today. He was very thorough...just the way I like it! Not to mention he answered all of my crazy questions as though they were all equally important! :)

I have only been as scared 3 other times as bad as this. All involved Carson. The day after he was born...had to have an Upper GI becasue he spit up bile. When he was 5 months old and had a CT to make sure the sutures in his head were not closing too quickly. Last, when he was 6 months old and decided he liked to hold his breath until passing out b/c he was angry (which we thought were seizures). Today brought back those memories of him holding his breath.

I just hope his little sister does NOT follow in his footsteps. My hair is getting way too grey!!!

Surgery today...

My MIL is having knee replacement surgery today. What a trooper! Carson thinks this is really cool. He told me the other day that when Nana gets her new knee smoke would shoot out of it when she ran b/c she will be so fast. I forgot to tell Nana that, but I think she would appreciate the fact that she now holds superhero status with Carson. Well, I think she always has been a superhero because she is such a great Nana. However, now that there is a possibility that smoke will (haha) be coming from her bionic knee, elevated her status just a tad. How am I going to explain when no smoke actually comes out?

Here is a picture of Nana and Chole (Carson & Lauren's cutie cousin).

BUSTED!!!

All was quiet in the house this afternoon as Carson was quietly reading in his room for his mandatory quiet time (He has decided he no longer needs a nap). Lauren was peacefully sleeping in her room while I dozed on the couch listening to the rain falling outside....

OK...this is the part where you hear the SCREEEECH and I am pulled back into reality. NONE of those things happened today. The video shows you what was really going on during our nap time.

I heard Lauren calling for Carson. Then, I heard him say, "I'm coming Lauren". They were having story time instead of nap time. At least he was reading to her. Needless to say, as cute as it was mean mommy had to break up the party! Not 5 minutes later I looked up and Lauren was walking into Carson's room. Yep, she has now learned how to scale the side of her crib and escape. Big girl bed....HERE WE COME!

Faux pas...

I may have committed the biggest faux pas ever, but I don't care. I HAD to rearrange our furniture. We have had the exact same arrangement in our house for almost 9 years. When I was younger and lived at home I would rearrange my bedroom practically weekly. I mean moving huge bookcases and everything. The bad thing about living in a tiny house with not many "open" walls is you do not have a lot of options when moving furniture. So, I did it. I moved our couch in front of the fireplace out of "need a change" desperation. Hey, we are in the south people. Who needs a fireplace? Maybe it is because we have lived with the same boring arrangement for 9 years and are overjoyed to have something new to look at. Until I can figure out something else we are enjoying the change.

In our next house versatility is a MUST!

New Do...

I broke down and did it...I got Lauren's hair cut. She has had it trimmed 3 times, but this time we got the typical little girl cut. They took off a few inches to even it up with her bangs. It was looking rather stringy each morning when she got up. It looks adroable and even cuter with a bow in it!

Here comes the rush...

Our little family seems to be so busy lately. We managed to make it through the kid's birthday parties this year. We had a blast. Lauren is talking up a storm. She is talking in full sentences now! It is so amazing to hear. Carson commented the other day that Lauren can now hold a conversation with him. Carson started Tae Kwon Do a few weeks ago. He loves it. It is hard to believe that he will be graduating from K4 in a few short months. I can't wait to have him at school with me.

Our week nights are filled with activities now. Between PTO, Chris going to Kung Fu, class and Tae Kwon Do, we don't have a lot of time. The weekends are really important to us as a family. We try to spend some fun time doing all the things we can together. This weekend we are off to get the guys a haircut, Build-A-Bear, and maybe a little shopping for the girls!

We have a busy spring/summer ahead of us. We have planned to take the kids to see the Blue Angels in Beaufort in May. Something Carson really wants to go and do. Carson takes after his Dad. He has many passions at a very young age. We are also going to take him to Carnegie Museum to see the dinosaurs. (something I have never seen) I would love to visit Kennedy Space Center since he is now determined to work at NASA. Not sure if we can squeeze that in this year! Ah, to be a little boy! Dinosaurs, space, & airplanes...what could be better?
I just hope when we have to start going to American Doll stores Carson will be as flexible as Lauren is! :)

Happy 2nd Birthday to our little Princess Lauren!

We have been blessed by God in so many ways. When Lauren was born 2 years ago she completed our family. Our little ones are growing up so very fast! We take every opportunity to spend together because we know how precious this time is!

4 weeks...really?

I cannot believe that it has been 4 weeks since I have posted. I guess that is what happens to blogging when you work full-time and have 2 little ones. At least in my case any way.

Carson had his 5th birthday on the 30th. I promise to post pics, but if you can't wait you can visit my mother-in-laws blog and view her "birthday post"...... click on the link:

Here are some very cute pics of my little Tae Kwon Do Master in training.

Pink Saturday

Here is my contribution to Pink Saturday.

My Mother-in-law suggested I participate in Pink Saturday at How Sweet the Sound blog. These ladies post their favorite pink things every Saturday.

My Pink Saturday blog is of Lauren's Retro Pink kitchen and her room. My kid's rooms are my favortie part of our house. I love her room because it is filled with my favorite colors and patterns. Pink, green, stripes, & polka dots....I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Big Girl

On Tuesday, Gigi brought Lauren a big girl potty. She had been showing sings of being ready to potty train for a while so I thought I would see what she would do. Yesterday she used her potty 4 times! We were all so proud of her. We did the Potty Dance each time. She now sings the pee pee in the potty song each time we ask her to go. She is doing great. Carson is also very interested in the whole potty process. He asked if he could just use her little potty that is in our living room while he is watching his favorite show, Toot & Puddle. He does not think it is fair that he has to use a real toilet! Ha Ha. Sorry Carson...I don't think so!
